Rabindranath Tagore administered part of the family estates from the kachharibari at Shahzadpur.
He wrote a good deal here, including part of the play Bisarjan and work that went into Sonar Tari, Chitra, Chaitali, Galpaguchchha and Chhinnapatra.
The building is now a museum, and a Rabindra festival is held here each year.
