Rajshahi University opened the Shaheed Smriti Sangrahashala on 2 January 1972, the first museum in the country devoted to the Liberation War.
It holds arms, clothing and documents used by freedom fighters, and preserves the remains of those killed in the greater Rajshahi district during the war.
It stands on a campus that was itself occupied: Pakistani forces entered on 14 April 1971 and held it until the night of 18 December.
