The temples were built by the zamindars of the Puthia Raj family, who were known for their public works. The complex includes the Bara Ahnik Mandir, the Dol Mandir, the Govinda Temple within the palace grounds and the Shiva temple beside the tank, several of them richly worked in terracotta.
It is the most visited historic site in the district and an easy half-day trip from the city.
How to get there Buses and CNG autorickshaws run to Puthia from the city along the Rajshahi–Natore highway.
