Ramaprasad Chanda was teaching at Rajshahi Collegiate School when, in 1910, he joined Kumar Sarat Kumar Ray and Akshay Kumar Maitreya in founding the Varendra Research Society.
A scholar of history, art and archaeology, he served as the society's honorary secretary and helped assemble the collection that became the Varendra Research Museum.
