Mohammad Shamsuzzoha was born on 1 May 1934. He was proctor of the University of Rajshahi and a teacher in the chemistry department.

On 18 February 1969, students defied Section 144 and brought out a procession. Zoha went to the main gate and asked the Pakistani forces not to fire on them. He was killed there, aged 34.

He was the first university teacher in what was then East Pakistan to be killed by the Pakistani military, and his death sharpened the mass movement of 1969.
