University of Rajshahi
Established on 6 July 1953, the second oldest university in Bangladesh, on a large campus at Motihar in the south-east of the city.

The University of Rajshahi was established on 6 July 1953, making it the second oldest university in Bangladesh after the University of Dhaka.
Its campus at Motihar, on the south-eastern edge of the city, is one of the largest in the country. The university runs faculties across arts, science, social science, business, law, engineering, agriculture, medicine and fine arts.
The Varendra Research Museum, the oldest museum in Bangladesh, has been administered by the university since 1964.
